Recommended TreatmentConstruction Application
Add 3 to 10 pounds (1.4 to 4.5 kilograms) POLY-BORE dry polymer slowly through the hopper to mix with 1,000 gallons (3.8 m³) of fresh water. (See general instructions listed below.)
Reverse Circulation Drilling
Add 0.5 to 1 pound (0.2 to 0.5 kilograms) POLY-BORE dry polymer slowly through the hopper to mix with 100 gallons (0.38 m³) of fresh water. (See general instructions listed below.)
General Instructions
Continue mixing for another 15 to 20 minutes to allow POLY-BORE to hydrate.
- If POLY-BORE is being added directly to a tank with paddle mixers, make sure the freshwater level is well above the paddles. Add the POLY-BORE slowly to the vortex of the spinning paddles.
- Measure the funnel viscosity of the polymer slurry and adjust according to required specifications.
Notes:
- Make-up water used to mix POLY-BORE should meet the following quality:
- total chloride less than 1500 ppm (mg/L)
- total hardness less than 150 ppm as calcium
- total chlorine less than 100 ppm
- water pH between 8.5-9.5
- Reduce total hardness of make-up water by adding 1 to 2 pounds (0.45 to 0.9 kilograms) soda ash (sodium carbonate) per 1,000 gallons (3.8 m³) of make-up water. (Do not add in excess as overtreatment can lead to detrimental effects and reduced performance of the drilling fluid).
- POLY-BORE can be chemically broken down with regular household liquid bleach (5% sodium hypochlorite). Use one gallon of liquid bleach per 100 gallons (10 liters/m³) of fluid formulated with POLY-BORE. Do not use perfumed liquid bleach or solid calcium hypochlorite.
Packaging

EZ-MUD® DP
EZ-MUD DP is a free-flowing, dry granular synthetic polymer containing partially hydrolyzed polyacrylamide/polyacrylate (PHPA) copolymer. BENSEAL®/EZ MUD® Slurry
The BENSEAL/EZ-MUD slurry combines two widely-used Baroid products into a patented technique that provides a simple, economical method to seal and grout boreholes, well casings and earthen structures. The slurry, after set, develops a high quality grout with low permeability.
More info
Spec. sheet
Recommended TreatmentThe procedure described below must be followed closely to ensure proper mixing. To pump EZ-MUD/BENSEAL slurry, use a piston, diaphragm or screw-type pump. Avoid using a centrifugal pump if possible.
Typical mixing procedure:
- To each 30-gal (113.6 liters) of fresh water, add 10-oz (330 ml) of EZ-MUD and stir well.
- Slowly add one 50-lb (22.7 kg) sack BENSEAL to the EZ-MUD/water slurry while stirring gently, no faster than 40 rpm. Do not over mix.
- Start pumping to the hole as soon as the slurry is uniformly blended, or when possible, while mixing. After each batch is pumped into the well, immediately flush pump, hoses, and tremie pipe with fresh water or an EZ-MUD/water slurry.
Cautions:
- From the time BENSEAL is added, application should be completed within 15 minutes.
- Do not mix over 100 gallons (0.38 m3) per pumpable batch.
- The grouting method selected will depend upon, and you should carefully consider, all prevailing geological and hydrological factors and any existing regulatory requirements. The grouting process may not be complete until the grout is static at the desired level.
Heat loop grouting
Refer to typical mixing procedure. Do not over mix to avoid entrainment of air which will result in reduced thermal conductivity. For grout volume requirements refer to the following table:
| Diameter (inches) | Diameter (mm) | gal/ft | m3/ meter | ft/gal | meter/ m3 |
| 2 | 51 | 0.16 | 0.002 | 6.25 | 493.3 |

| 36 | 914 | 52.9 | 0.657 | 0.03 | 1.5 |
Note: Volume of annular space = volume of hole - volume of casing O.D Sealing casing
- Pump the prepared BENSEAL/EZ-MUD slurry through a tremie pipe inserted down the annular space to the bottom of the hole.
- Fill the annulus uniformly from the bottom up, and withdraw the tremie pipe slowly as the slurry is discharged.
Notes:
- In sealing casing, make sure that a "casing shoe shut-off" has been established between the bottom of the casing and the hole. This ensures that the sealing slurry remains in the annulus.
- Pump until the grout returned at the surface is of the same consistency as the grout being pumped into the hole.
Plugging and abandoning boreholes:
- Pump the prepared BENSEAL/EZ-MUD slurry through an open-ended drill pipe.
- Fill the hole from the bottom up and withdraw the drill pipe slowly as the hole fills to prevent pipe from becoming stuck.
Packaging
BENSEAL is packaged in 50-lb (22.7 kg) multiwall paper bags, containing 0.7 ft3 (0.02 m3). EZ-MUD is packaged in a 5-gal (19-liter) plastic containers. It is also available in cardboard cartons, which contain four 1-gal (3.8-liter) containers.
